Mya Rose Band Releases Breaking Free

Mya Rose Band has just released Breaking Free, a collection of songs written, recorded, and produced by Mya Rose. The studio was built about a year ago and several of the songs were recorded on her sailboat, Risky Business, in the Ocracoke harbor.

After mastering the equipment and recording this past winter, her third CD, a project of original songs, is available to the public.
Springer's Point was written as she sat on the old artesian well across from Sam Jones' grave and also includes the words to live by on his tombstone:

jumping over, climbing under
through the starlit trees.
on the path of recognition,
what i've seen in my dreams.
muddy feet, scraped up arms,
spirits guiding me.
i don't know much about this island,
except what they show me
i shall pass this way but once any good therefore that i can do let me do it now, for
i shall not pass this way again.

Several of the songs were written on Ocracoke, including Springer's Point and Each Wave.

Local musicians on the CD include Nora Hartlaub on bass, Emily Devan on cello, Steve Magliano - harmonica/sax, Doug Leal - drums/percussion, and Caleb Jacobs - guitar/bass.

The Mya Rose Band has soulful vocals backed by rockin' folk with bluesy harmonica and vibrant sax. She sings and plays guitar from deep within her soul while striving to voice a difference, make others think, brighten someone's day, and to use music as therapy.

Look for the Mya Rose Band every Monday at the Pelican and every Wednesday night at Open Mic at Mango Loco, both on Ocracoke.
